
Glass Plant Foreman

- Maintain a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors to the plant site.
- Perform safety observations to prevent workplace injuries proactively.
- Operate all plant equipment safely and efficiently, and train others on the safe operation of equipment both in the classroom and in the field.
- Perform routine safety checks, preventive maintenance, and ensure timely and effective repairs.
- Troubleshoot maintenance and quality issues through the use of a computerized system and glass production equipment.
- Monitor the glass for signs of unacceptable material.
- Perform quality testing on finished glass products to ensure that customer expectations and requirements are achieved.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the Glass Plant through inspections and preventative maintenance programs.
- Achieve daily production requirements and accurately report these results.
- Ensure all operating systems are operating normally and report any problems to the Manager daily.
- Improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and increase subordinates’ skills and capabilities.
- Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through professional interaction with internal and external customers.
- Perform all duties and safely operate equipment, and enforce and comply with all safety standards in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies. Ensure the plant is OSHA-compliant at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to differentiate between various colors of glass.
- Must possess the ability to determine percentages and other mathematical equations.
- Skills in utilizing equipment, tools, parts, and procedures during the repair and servicing of equipment.
- Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs and the ability to diagnose defects and make the repair.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Self-motivated with the ability to perform and/or oversee multiple tasks and processes with limited supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead employees to build and maintain high levels of employee morale while promoting and providing a teamwork atmosphere.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with computerized systems.
- Prior experience leading employees.
- Must have prior management experience with experience in performance management, training, and development.
- Previous experience operating equipment is preferred. Must pass a written and operational test to be licensed to operate equipment.
- Recycling industry experience.
- Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbs. Rarely up to 50 lbs.
- Rarely working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions.
- Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
- Frequent working in confined spaces.
- Occasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling.
- Rarely climbing and/or balancing.
- Continuously standing/walking in a recycling plant environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language.
