This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.

Job Purpose

Alpha Technologies Services Inc.’s Reading, PA, office seeks an Embedded Firmware Test Engineer to test firmware and software applications in a systems environment, and to lead the test automation development of various elements of the firmware. Will also design and implement automated test cases according to established firmware development processes and document all automation modules according to established standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Must also have any experience with or knowledge of: (i) Cable Modem/DOCSIS technology and architecture; (ii) Strong IP networking knowledge and skills; (iii) Embedded Linux, Windows OS, Solaris, UNIX, Java, C#, Perl, Python, C&C++, Oracle, and Web Applications; (iv) software development/testing, debugging, and analysis in a team environment; (v) relevant problem solving and critical thinking skills; (vi) communicating effectively and clearly within the engineering team; (vii) system test case development and execution (as well as associated bug reporting) for both the Element Management System Application software as well as all embedded firmware platforms (DOCSIS 2.0, 3.0, 3.1); (viii) test automation for both application software as well as embedded firmware (DOCSIS cable modem) platforms; (ix) leadership role in Continuous Integration for product development; (x) software development and knowledge of manufacturing Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems; (xi) significant domain knowledge in the area of Hybrid Fiber Coax networks/DOCSIS specifications; (xii) experience on Signal analysis, power and traffic measurements on Broadband products and Hybrid Fiber Coax networks.

Experience can be concurrent.

Qualifications

Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field plus two (2) years of post-baccalaureate and progressively responsible experience in a related position.
