We Are SeekingTeam Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Development Engineer I. With every position we fill, our focus is on providing best-in-class service to our citizens while offering the opportunity for professional growth in a rewarding and innovative work environment.The Development Engineer I reports to the Development Engineer Right of Way Manager. The primary job duties of these positions include:
  • Serve as a communication liaison with internal departments/divisions and external organizations and agencies.
  • Collaborate with leaders to identify long-term goals, ensuring efforts align with the organization's objectives.
  • Complete technical reviews of project documents; prepare correspondence, including letters, e-mails, and Council Communications.
  • Prepare Development Agreements, Intergovernmental Agreements, Roadway Annexations, and Abandonments in coordination with private developers, Town Attorney, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend meetings on CIP, private development projects, and operational matters.
  • Review and process requests from internal staff, residents, and developers.
  • Manage projects, determine scope, track progress, and meet with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support to Senior Development Engineer, Engineering Right-of-Way Manager, and other staff, as necessary.

In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, Development Engineer I candidates must possess the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
  • 4 years of related experience, including but not limited to Project Management, and or Engineering Design.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Licensing and Certification
  • Engineer-in-Training preferred, or Professional Engineer registered in the State of Arizona preferred.
In alignment with the Town of Gilbert Remote Work Guideline, the Development Engineer I position has been identified as an eligible position for the “Hybrid” remote work category, defined as “Approximately half (50%) of the employees' time is spent on-site, and half (50%) can be spent working remotely”. Modified work privileges are approved at the sole discretion of the department director; as such, the department reserves the right to modify or discontinue modified work arrangements at any point.
