
Substation Protection & Controls - Electrical Engineer

- Serve as technical lead and project manager on substation protection and control (P&C) projects
- Lead the design of protection schemes, control logic, SCADA integration, and communication systems
- Oversee the development of one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, relay panel layouts and bill ot materials, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
- Collaborate with substation physical, civil, and transmission engineers for integrated project delivery
- Ensure technical accuracy, quality control, and adherence to project schedules and budgets
- Lead client meetings, proposal development, and pursuit strategy for new work
- Mentor and train junior engineers in both technical and project delivery asp
- Lead and oversee relay logic, setpoints, and implementation
- Experience in fault analysis
- Experience in field troubleshooting during site comissioning
- Lead & oversee RTV/HMI configuration programming and implementation
- Experience with NERC PRG (eg. 019, -024, -025, -028)
- Lead and oversee protective device coordination/philosophy documents time current curves
- Lead and oversee arcflash analysis & PPE selection
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (PE license required)
- 15+ years of experience in substation protection and controls engineering and project management
- Deep understanding of relay protection schemes (transmission and distribution), SCADA, and utility standards
- Experience managing substation P&C projects from concept through construction
- Strong client management and leadership skills
- Comfortable working with major utilities, EPCs, or consulting engineering firms
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client coordination and site visits
- Proficiency with ETAP, Easy Power, SRM, Aspen, SEL AuSELerator, SEL RTAC, GE Enervista, ArcPro etc.
