- Directs the operation of the Mill/Feed facility on a shift rotation across the department and within safety, environmental, and quality standards established by the Company.
- Work to fully understand dept goals, yields, and KPI's utilizing the Digital SMS tool. Follow up on out of range issues and work to quickly get them back into range.
- Work with dept employees to ensure quality products are going to the bins and utilizing the proper bins for start up material. Request resamples on products after adjustments have been made so product can be brought quickly back into spec.
- Work with employees to ensure detailed communication is documented in the OneNote so a proper shift exchange can be completed.
- Works closely with the Shift Superintendent in the effective leadership of a team of hourly colleagues across the plant site.
- Demonstrates a desire and willingness to learn the Shift Superintendent role in order to provide coverage on an as-needed basis.
- Collaborates with department leaders to support the achievement of goals and KPIs in the Mill/Feed dept.
- Able to effectively function, learn, and grow in a dynamic operating environment.
- Provides directions, priorities, and resources to hourly colleague teams while delivering results, status, and needs to department leader.
- Prioritizes safety above all other competing interests. Leads with a safety-first mindset and believe that all injuries are preventable. Upholds company and occupational safety and health regulations.
- Adheres to company and regulatory standards for environmental compliance and food safety compliance.
- Willing and able to serve as an active member of the confined space entry rescue and emergency response teams.
- Provide support to the Shift Superintendent as an incident commander during emergency response and other critical situations.
- Recognizes hazards and takes action to mitigate them in order to prevent safety, quality, or environmental incidents.
- Listens and responds to employee suggestions and concerns regarding safety, quality, environment, housekeeping, and plant operations.
- Addresses employee concerns and maintains good communications and morale on the assigned shift rotation.
- Keeps plant and department leaders informed of matters affecting the morale and safety of hourly colleagues.
- Leads by example and demonstrates the ADM Core Values in all matters, especially as it pertains to safety and personal conduct.
- Evaluates and provides feedback on hourly colleague performance as requested by department leaders. Has a desire to mentor both new and experienced hourly team members as the need and opportunity arises.
- Provides positive feedback when hourly team members are observed producing strong results and safe performance.
- Completes necessary reports and documents during the normal course of a shift, including by not limited to safety-quality-environmental events/reports, production reports, permits, and regular safety engagements.
- Experience as a qualified operator or loader is preferred.
- Experience as a cross qualified operator or shift champion is a plus.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred for any external candidates.
- Consistent performance reviews of meets expectations or higher.
- 3-5 years processing or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Active participant in safety engagement activities.
- Desire to advance into a leadership role with ADM.
- Strong computer skills and proficient in a variety of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SpheraCloud, Maximo (CMMS), PolicyTech or similar applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrates teamwork and customer driven.
- Accuracy and thoroughness in recordkeeping.
