Position SummaryThe University of New Mexico's Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant Assistant to support our accounting operations. This position is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field to gain hands-on experience in a professional accounting environment.Responsibilities include:
  • Assist Fiscal Services Supervisor with reconciliation of operating accounts
  • Reconcile and file invoices accurately and timely
  • Process bi-weekly reimbursements in accordance with University policies
  • Maintain organized financial records and support documentation
  • Perform data entry
  • Provide support for additional accounting duties and projects as requested
  • Have availability for 10 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must be a current UNM student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 3 credit hours (graduate)
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
