This full-time position follows a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you are a dedicated professional looking to make a difference, we would love to hear from you!Description:The primary purpose of the Sterile Processing Technician is to collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and other patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures, in order to ensure sterile and functioning supply of materials and equipment. This position will also perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties.Qualifications:
  • Experience/knowledge of general dental practices is preferred.
Essential Functions:
  • Decontaminate and sterilize instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assemble, wrap and sterilize trays of instruments. Follow proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
  • Monitor biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
  • Sort mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and make them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner.
  • Restock, label, and maintain inventory, submit requisitions, collect and distribute instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment.
  • Perform environmental maintenance duties and assist in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
  • Verify that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping them neat and organized.
  • Manage patient records and assist with charting.
  • Support the front desk as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
  • Communicate appropriately using good interpersonal skills.
Requirements:
  • Understanding of general dental hygiene procedures
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, technical skills and equipment is preferred
  • Complies with all regulations, protocols, and procedures
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with the dentist, patients, and other team members
  • Friendly, professional, and dependable with great interpersonal skills
  • Physical requirement of stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
