- Uses appropriate critical thinking and judgement in the provision of care.
- Prepares, implements, and evaluates recreation therapy treatment programs by using recreation activities as a modality for treatment to ensure patients develop leisure skills.
- Conducts assessments to identify patients’ leisure strengths, interests and needs.
- Documents in a timely manner patient behavior, progress, and changes through charting to monitor patient response.
- Frequent communication with treatment team members to discuss patient treatment and programming.
- Recognize and report behaviors in patients that impeded therapy progress.
- Deals appropriately with disruptive or aggressive behavior.
- Demonstrates initiative in individual professional development.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education - High School Diploma/GED EquivalentPreferred:Education - Bachelors degree in Related Field
Certification - Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation CertificationPhysical Requirements: Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
