This position is responsible for training, mentoring, and monitoring the performance of MAs and other support staff to ensure a seamless patient experience and efficient clinic operations. The Lead MA serves as a critical liaison between physicians, staff, and patients, promoting a professional and collaborative atmosphere.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Administrative Duties
  • Supervisor and coordinate the daily activities of the clinical and business support staff, including Medical Assistants and Patient Service Representatives.
  • Develop and conduct training and onboarding for new staff, ensuring proficiency in clinical procedures, EMR documentation, and office protocols.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and optimize patient flow.
  • Monitor staff performance, deliver constructive feedback, and contribute to annual performance reviews.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for resolving staff related issues and addressing patient concerns.
  • Manage inventory of clinical supplies and medications, ensuring all exam rooms are well-stocked and equipment is properly maintained.
  • Assist the Practice Manager in quality improvement projects and ensure adherence to healthcare regulations like HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Research and obtain any required prior authorizations for office needs that fall outside of central services.
  • Maintain the quality standards of the practice and ensure that staff meets clinical and clerical expectations.
Clinical Duties
  • Perform all essential MA tasks, including rooming patients, recording vital signs, and documenting patient history and chief complaints in the EMR.
  • Assist Neurologists with specialized in-office procedures as directed by the physician leadership.
  • Administer medications and injections as prescribed and overseen by the physician.
  • Manage patient communications, triage clinical calls, process prescription refills, and handle prior authorizations for medications and advanced imaging in conjunction with central services.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, and procedure preparation.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation is accurate, thorough, and completed in a timely manner.
QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical environment
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience within a Neurology practice
  • At least 1 year of proven experience in a leadership, supervisory, or training capacity
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Neurological terminology, conditions, and procedures
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred
  • An Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related field
  • Experience with specific neurological diagnostic equipment
  • Bilingual capabilities are a significant asset
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communications, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
