Sante Health System is looking for a full time Surgery Scheduler to join our medical office team at, Premier Spine and Orthopedics Associates in the Fresno, CA area. This position is responsible for organizing, maintaining and coordinating physician(s) and hospital staff schedules for surgeries at multiple locations. Communicates with patient and patient's family pre and post operation to obtain appropriate documentation, provides various forms of literature and answers follow up questions as appropriate. Can perform various administrative tasks including obtaining patient documentation (authorizations, insurance, etc.), managing cancellations and answering telephone calls.REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent required
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited required
  • A minimum of at least 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of medical insurance and medical terminology
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products

  • Knowledge of medical office procedures including surgery procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of interrelationship of surgery department with laboratory and radiology
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information
  • Skill in operating a computer, photocopy machine, fax and other office equipment
  • Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, coworkers and the public
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Coordinates physician(s) schedules at various CMC facilities' ensuring that time is blocked for surgeries.
  • Prepares patient records and alerts physician to any missing or expired patient information.
  • Communicates with appropriate hospital staff (nurses, unit clerks, etc.) to ensure that appropriate staffing is available and any special needs are addressed.
  • Coordinates with hospital staff and or vendors to ensure appropriate equipment is available for upcoming surgical cases.
  • Communicates with patient and patient families pre/post operation to provide requirements, route and mail appropriate literature, provide orders and facility maps and answer follow up questions as appropriate.
  • Performs various administrative tasks including but, not limited to, screening and taking phone calls/messages, managing denials and appeals and obtaining appropriate authorization, insurance information, pre-operation orders and images for surgery.
  • Utilizes various software programs which can include Microsoft Office, EPIC and/or Intergy.
  • Assist other office personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits.
  • Function as relief for other personnel in office as appropriate and to facilitate coworker's taking time out of the office
  • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with physician and coworkers
  • Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested
  • Enhance professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
