Our team has an excellent track record of success with an experienced and creative group of people that work well together while underwriting various lines of coverage for large accounts representing numerous industries.Role Description:Are you passionate about underwriting complex risks and shaping innovative insurance solutions? As a Public Entity Underwriter, you’ll play a key role in expanding Safety National’s presence in the multi-line public entity market. You’ll assess and underwrite both new and renewal public entity accounts—individual and group—ensuring profitable growth within this evolving business unit. Your day-to-day will involve evaluating forms, endorsements, pricing strategies, and retention levels while collaborating with brokers, risk managers, and internal teams. You'll also contribute to product development, refine underwriting guidelines, and help build Safety National’s reputation in the public entity space. If you enjoy building strong relationships, delivering strategic insights, and operating with autonomy in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, this is your opportunity to lead from the front.Qualifications:Education:A bachelor’s degree or equivalent insurance underwriter work experience is preferred.Required Qualifications:
  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO. All employees are required to submit work from home requests and follow our Work From Home policy, which will be provided to all candidates selected to interview.
  • 1 or more years of insurance industry experience with a focus on multi-line, large retention public entity underwriting and sales.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of marketing, agency relationships, and profitable growth execution.
  • Familiarity with state immunities, tort caps, and reinsurance.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Exposure to underwriting systems, product development, and cross-functional collaboration.
