The CDL Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials using various commercial vehicles, including roll-off trucks, vacuum trucks, and box vans. In addition to driving duties, this position supports environmental field operations alongside technicians. Responsibilities may include both emergency and routine tasks such as confined space entry (e.g., tanks and manholes), oil spill response, drum handling, decontamination, high-pressure washing, sweeping, shoveling, and other environmental remediation activities.What You Will Do
- Operate commercial trucks and provide field support to environmental technicians as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements set by NOCO and the Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment, including forklifts, aerial lifts, boom lifts, skid steers, excavators, pressure washers, pumps, and other company vehicles.
- Prepare equipment and vehicles for daily service jobs by completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking fluids, tires, and necessary tools or supplies.
- Interact professionally with customers on-site to ensure a high level of service and satisfaction.
- Identify and document any system defects, hazards, or unusual buildup; communicate recommended maintenance or corrective actions to the customer.
- Respond promptly to emergency or unscheduled service calls.
- Accurately complete daily logs, time sheets, and other required documentation.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required; Class A preferred.
- Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a CDL Class A or B vehicle.
- Valid driver's license with a clean and acceptable driving record.
- Current DOT Medical Certification required.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening in compliance with federal and/or state DOT regulations.
- Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements preferred.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
- Confined Space Entry Certification preferred.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Work Environment:
- Occasional exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, or fumes.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Must comply with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134), including facial hair guidelines for respirator use.
