- Perform high complexity coagulation testing using both manual and automated methods.
- Perform assays using the ELISA method.
- Perform assays consisting of multiple dilutions requiring impeccable technique.
- Perform esoteric platelet aggregation testing.
- Perform hemoglobinopathy testing.
- Assist on bone marrow biopsy procedures and process the specimens obtained.
- Assist in implementing and validating new procedures.
- Actively engage in continuing education in order to enhance the department, including a willingness to attend conferences whenever possible.
- Accommodate emergencies, if necessary, by adjusting work hours accordingly.
- Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis in the Department of Laboratories.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as assigned according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance.
- Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures.
- Proficient in computer protocols as assigned.
- Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols
- Interact in a professional manner with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers, patients, and other members of the hospital community.
- Perform other clerical duties as assigned.

- Incumbent will be required to work every other weekend. Pass days and holidays as assigned.
SL-2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 3-5 years demonstrated relevant experience.
SL-3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years full-time experience in a College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited laboratory performing Hematology and Coagulation testing.
- At least one year performing specialized testing such as factor assays, hemoglobinopathy evaluation, platelet aggregation, ELISA assays, or other relevant testing.
- Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises.
- All Hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary.
- This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
- This function/position maybe designated as “essential.” This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital and related facilities.

- Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
- Night shift differential ($15,000), evening shift differential ($10,000)
- Inconvenience pay/supplemental shift differential. ($575)
