This position is responsible for system enhancement, power distribution, IO layout, compliance, staff safety, and acts as a resource in technician skill advancement related to plant electrical power and process control systemsLocation: Buffalo, NY manufacturing plantMain overseer and problem solver for plant power and control systems and is a vital part of plant technical leadershipOffer input to establish and manage power and control standards and guarantee the application of the standards on all projects and enhancementsLead the implementation of the site master plan for power and control systems including understanding of the existing base, and replacement plan for outdated equipment/technologiesCreate and maintain a lasting system for plant Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) technicians skill developmentEnsure technician adherence to local and national regulatory codes (NFPA 70, NFPA 70e, NFPA 79 and OSHA 1910)In charge of validation of the MES data from PLCs. Support plant Process Engineers in conditioning PLC data to allow effective data analysis including application developmentProvide assistance in the design and execution of machine control and process automation applications, such as: control strategies, HMI design, MES applications and KPI developmentIdentify losses, and create plans and strategies to eradicate them, in the areas of safety, quality, reliability and costManage Key Elements for systems related to power and control system such as electrical safety (LOTO, Electrical PPE, Energized work permits, low voltage qualification, etc.) and Quality/CCP compliance (checkweighers, metal detectors, vision systems, ingredient flows, temperatures, etc.)Work together with leadership on selection and installation of new equipment. Become the technical authority on new equipment and ensures the training of others regarding control systemsAct as project manager for initiatives varying from E&I focused projects to complete capital projectsProvide power and controls engineering support on capital initiativesGrasp and apply control, simulation and process modeling technologies to study and enhance overall process and packaging operationsSalary range: $85,500 – $123,200 per yearMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering2 years of controls or electrical engineering experienceUnderstanding of machine and/or process control hardware, instrumentation and software (ex: Allen Bradley PLC, ControlLogix, Wonderware HMI, and Rockwell FactoryTalk)
