Typical Duties
  • Manage and maintain the administrative and classroom environment using virtual and physical servers.
  • Including provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of new and/or existing virtual infrastructure.
  • Planning and implementing expansions, upgrades, and optimizations to be applied to new and/or existing virtual infrastructure.
  • Including provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of new and/or existing physical server and desktop environments
  • Planning and implementing expansions, upgrades, and optimizations to be applied to new and/or existing physical servers and desktop environments.
  • Planning, implementation, maintenance, upgrade, and management of mass storage devices, including SAN and NAS technologies in the enterprise. This includes working with Snapshots and data replication at the disk and VM level.
  • Research, troubleshooting, and documentation of complex system issues.
  • Research and coordinate with others on high-level problems, including the development of projects to resolve issues that span departments and
college campuses.
  • Enable the implementation of technological innovations.
  • Provide input on new technologies, hardware, software, and operating systems for use in IT and to meet goals set forth by the college's strategic plan, including developing and documenting process improvements such as automation of manual processes.
  • Serve as a security advisor within a shared governance framework.
  • Attendance, membership, and participation in college committees to represent Information Technology in discussions and meetings. Reporting on information relayed during the meetings as necessary to support IT functions within the college. Work with other departments to identify and resolve issues as directed to meet the college's needs.
  • Serve as support to staff related to desktop support, network technology, and peripheral devices relating to Desktops, laptops, and virtual desktops.
  • Travel to alternate college sites to provide project support as necessary and to maintain communication with local users.
  • Use of Helpdesk ticketing processes to track progress and trends in, as well as documenting processes and solutions.
  • Adhere to college, federal, and state administrative procedures, guidelines, initiatives, and directives to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations affecting college operations.
  • Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level as assigned.
QualificationsMinimum:
  • Certification(s) related to virtualization, and three years related work experience.
Preferred:
  • Associate degree in a related field and three years related work experience.
