The Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) Consultant supports early education sites serving young children and families to facilitate children’s healthy growth and development in partnership with childcare resource and referral agencies through effective program implementation of IECMH best practice and high-quality standards. IECMH implementation is a high priority, supporting and enhancing high quality programming and related administrative tasks, including data collection and reporting, screening/assessment, and intervention. The IECMH consultant should have stronger interpersonal skills, a passion for enhancing the social emotional development of young children, and the ability to compassionately work with families, early education staff, and additional community partners. The IECMH consultant will receive robust supervision and opportunities to collaborate with other mental health professionals across the state of Ohio. While this position will be hired and housed at Positive Education Programs, the scope of work will include close collaboration and partnership with the local Childcare Resource and Referral Agency and will involve travel to licensed early education facilities in the region.Regions
Requires providing services in Lorian, Erie, Huron, Sandusky and SenecaDuties and responsibilities1. IECMH Consultant
  • Attend regular meetings with the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency, observe and offer support to early learning classrooms, and provide resources to partners to promote social emotional development
  • Develop relationships with early childhood providers in collaboration with Childcare Resource and Referral Agency
  • Provide connections to mental health services and other community resources to support families, children, Childcare Resource and Referral Staff
  • Attend all meetings and trainings as required
  • Input, collect, and report data
2. GENERAL
  • Collaborate with inter/intra agency service providers
  • Demonstrate respect for other professional and disciplines
  • Participate in cooperative efforts within and across PEP regions
  • Articulate child/family needs and advocate on their behalf
  • Assist Program Manager in promoting early childhood mental health
3. Professional Development
  • Maintain current licensure/credentialing by appropriate Ohio agency, practicing only within the scope of such licensure or certification
  • Attend regularly scheduled supervision meetings
  • Maintain CEU’s required by governing bodies and credentialing agencies
  • Identify areas of needed growth and develop; yearly professional development plan
  • Maintain Safety and Self-Care plan
4. Professionalism
  • Conduct self with appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
  • Promote agency mission, values, and Sanctuary concepts, and comply with professional Code of Ethics
Qualifications
  • ECMH credentialed preferred with a minimum of bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling, early intervention, or other related mental health/social service program. Master’s degree and mental health license preferred.
  • In lieu of licensure, candidates with a bachelors or masters in a relevant field along with relevant work experience would be accepted if they are willing to obtain QMHS.
  • Candidates without ECHM credentials would be required to obtain credential during the course of employment.
  • Knowledge and expertise in early childhood development – ages 0-8 years
  • Knowledge and experience working with at-risk, diverse populations
  • Knowledge and experience working within early childhood systems
