Essential Duties1. Functions as the primary source of expertise to ensure that proposals meet sponsor requirements, regulatory compliance requirements, University, School, Federal, and State policies and regulations governing sponsored research, and that proposals are submitted correctly and per appropriate deadlines.2. Understands and interprets grant guidelines and policies; monitors and ensures all grant submissions by YCC members are compliant with the requirements, updates, and policies of both the funding source and Yale University; reviews and analyzes current processes and submission quality. Makes recommendations for and participates in the implementation of changes as appropriate. 3. Cultivates and maintains strong working partnerships and effective communications with all key stakeholders. Working with individual faculty and senior leaders/research program leaders, directs all aspects of pre-award submission; collaborates with business office in designing and developing a financial plan. During active funding/project period tracks project progress and oversees submission of non-competing and competing renewal applications to the funding source as needed. 4. Manages and plays a key role in the development and continuous improvement of program activities; works with internal and external partners to develop and implement systems to advance the business objectives of the Research Affairs office. 5. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues to develop and implement strategic plans. 6. Working closely with leadership, the ORA helps foster an environment of collaboration and interaction for cancer center members across departmental, school, and institutional boundaries. The team is instrumental in ensuring that all activities continue to meet National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG, P30) guidelines.Reporting directly to the Associate Director for Research Affairs, the Research Affairs Speciliast will be the primary source of expertise along with day-to-day and high-level management of Yale Cancer Center data and reporting. This is a critical role in supporting activities that lead to high impact and internationally recognized outcomes and achievements. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this position will oversee the following primary areas of focus:Data Analytics and Reporting: Serve as a central resource for Yale Cancer Center data; Lead efforts to aggregate and synthesize key metrics for Yale Cancer Center, including membership demographics, grant funding, publications and clinical trial accrual; create systems to share data internally and externally. Development of processes and quality control measures to ensure accuracy of data. Maintains a strong understanding of P30 Cancer Center Support Grant data reporting guidelines.Project Management: Design and implement relational databases with advance knowledge of relevant applications impacting data analysis and reporting.
