Specialty Clinic Nurse (CMA, LPN, or RN)

- Answers telephone, takes messages, disseminates information to the appropriate personnel
- Collaborates with clinic team leader
- Schedules tentative surgical dates with patients at consultation
- Schedules outside referral appointments, or further testing as indicated by Specialist
- Prep charts for clinic specialists, through the use of the electronic health record or obtaining outside records if necessary
- Updates patient medical records accordingly
- Documentation in electronic health records
- Documentation of medication administration
- Assists provider with follow up orders and recommendations
- Assist provider with minor clinic procedures
- Assists the surgical department in coordination of surgery with staff and physicians
- Assists in performing quality management functions for the department
- Maintains inventory for department
- Demonstrates flexibility in the scheduling of work hours to serve the departments needs due to variations in the consulting physician schedules
- Responds in a pleasant and respectful manner to patients, coworkers, other department staff, and providers/physicians
- Files lab and x-ray reports in charts (if applicable)
- Files charts upon completion (if applicable) and distributes records from outside facilities to HIS
- Graduate of an accredited program for medical assisting, practical nursing or registered nursing
- Current certification as medical assistant or nurse license to practice in Iowa
- BLS certification (able to complete post hire)
- Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter training required (able to complete post hire)
