This role will support the ground infrastructure component of the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. This is an onsite position at Hill Air Force Base, just outside Salt Lake City, Utah. Full time presence on project is required.Responsibilities:
- Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the architectural work to include the preparation of original designs, layouts, details, drawings, and specifications using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas, and possible solutions.
- Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
- Prepares letters to vendors and clients.
- Coordinates architectural efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
- Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations.
- When delegated, provides guidance to other architectural personnel for specific tasks or project subgroups.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Architectural methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgement in making adaptations and modifications
- Designs facility layouts and architectural details.
- Performs building code analyses and compliance of 3D modeling and renderings
- Provides technical assistance to other Architectural personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
- Assist in constructability reviews
- Prepares project designs and plans using 3D modeling software
- Support construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports
- Act as a mentor or coach for subordinate architects and designers
- Lead and/or participate in technical discussions with client, suppliers, construction, etc.
- Bachelors degree in architectural design.
- 5-8 years of experience in facility design/layout and details, building code analyses, Revit modeling, and renderings.
- Experience with CADD applications such as Revit.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and construction methods.
- Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
- Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Masters degree in Architecture.
- Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
- Experience with procurement automation tools.
- Thorough knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
- Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
