
Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (Full Time)

- Collect blood, urine, and other specimens from patients following proper procedures.
- Ensure specimens are correctly labeled, stored, and transported to the laboratory.
- Prepare specimens for analysis by centrifugation, dilution, or other methods.
- Laboratory Testing:
- Perform routine and specialized tests on specimens, such as blood counts, glucose levels, and urinalysis.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and analyzers.
- Follow established protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure test accuracy and reliability.
- Quality Control and Documentation:
- Record test results and maintain accurate, confidential patient records.
- Conduct quality control checks and calibrate equipment as needed.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and regulations.
- Patient Interaction:
- Provide information and support to patients regarding specimen collection procedures.
- Address patient concerns and ensure a positive experience during laboratory visits.
- Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage laboratory workflow.
- Order and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Assist in billing and coding for laboratory tests as required.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate test results and relevant information to healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with medical technologists and other healthcare team members to ensure efficient lab operations.
- Certification: Valid certification as a Medical Lab Assistant (e.g., from the American Society for Clinical Pathology [ASCP] or AMT).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical lab assistant program is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a medical laboratory setting is an advantage.
- This position requires the employee to be present in the lab Monday thru Friday 3PM-10:30PM
