Responsibilities(25%)* Creatively and collaboratively work to build the pre-clinical and clinical educational program at the CHM Midland Regional Campus, based on available and accessible resources in each rural community site, under the direction of MSU-CHM’s Director of Rural Medicine.(25%)* Actively collaborate with the Midland Assistant Deans office staff (Asst. Dean, Director of Student Programs, Clerkship staff) and medical students to develop, implement and evaluate clinical experiences that meet the program goals, individual career goals of the students, and college requirements.(25%)* Assist in the recruitment and retention of clinical/adjunct faculty and clinical sites, establishing collegial relationships with them. This includes making site visits to new and non-teaching physicians in the community to assess interest in, and encourage involvement with CHM, assessing for appropriate learning environments, informing physicians and their staff about curricular content, and serving as a liaison between the potential faculty member, the Clerkship Director and the Assistant Dean’s office.(25%)* Foster and maintain working collaboration with the Academic Affairs Office of MyMichigan Health System, in coordinating planning, scheduling and assignments for the R-CHP students within the Health System’s facilities or with MyMichigan employed physicians.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:Foster and maintain collegial relationships with community partners including, but not limited to local public health departments, local chambers of commerce, and hospital administrators.Assist in the recruitment of medical students to the RCHP Program, including interviewing prospective students and outreach to undergraduate colleges, premedical undergraduate student groups, and MSU-CHM medical students.Coordinate and deliver faculty development in the field to current and prospective preceptors.Assist with marketing of the program, including the development of program materials, social media, and the identification and coordination of marketing opportunities.Monitor and schedule student portfolio assignments, RCHP elective and curricular elements, and coordinate small group student and faculty sessions for MyMichigan Regional Campus RCHP students.Meet regularly with the Director of Student Programs and Community Clerkship Assistant to facilitate the appropriate scheduling of students.Arrange, schedule, and supervise housing assignments for MyMichigan Regional Campus RCHP students.Participate in special projects and other tasks/responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Dean of the Midland Regional Campus or MSU-CHM’s Director of Rural Medicine.Maintain required documentation for the college/rural health program.This position involves regular travel to rural and surrounding communities as well as other CHM campus communities and participation in LRM seminars which will occur on the East Lansing or Grand Rapids campuses.Will require occasional evening or overnight travel.Certifications and LicensuresN/A
Required EducationEducation: Bachelors DegreeComments: Bachelors or Master’s Degree in education, social work, health care, communications, public health, organizational leadership or post-secondary education.
Other InformationEXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:Minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare, communications, education or public health.Excellent computer skills in Windows environment using Word, Excel, Teams, Google Drive and PowerPoint.Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to establish and effectively maintain relationships with all levels of personnel within the organization as well as with external customers are all required.Ability to problem solve, exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and communicating with the CHM Midland Campus team.Ability to work independently.Excellent organizational skills necessary to prioritize daily workload.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.Ability to move about patient care facilities, both inpatient and ambulatory.Access to personal transportation, and a valid, unrestricted license to operate a motor vehicle is required.Travel requirements on average of 30% per week (regional road travel within a 200 mi radius, overnight travel for meetings or conferences about 4 times per year).Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
