- Ensure all import and export activities comply with U.S. Customs regulations, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and other applicable trade laws.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS), duty rates, and relevant tariff changes, ensuring correct classification and valuation of goods.
- Prepare, review, and maintain required documentation for international shipments (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.).
- Partner with customs brokers and freight forwarders to resolve compliance issues or shipment delays.
- Support internal audits and maintain accurate compliance records for regulatory purposes.
- Develop and manage inbound and outbound freight strategies for both domestic and international shipments.
- Select and manage carriers, forwarders, and brokers to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery.
- Negotiate rates and service agreements with logistics partners.
- Coordinate container booking, routing, and tracking for all shipments.
- Analyze freight performance metrics and implement cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives.
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company standards.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for shipping/receiving in alignment with trade compliance requirements.
- Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of shipments.
- Assist with related operational tasks during the initial U.S. facility startup phase.
- Collaborate with supply chain, production, and finance teams to align logistics activities with company goals.
- Support the transition from Addison to the Geneva facility in 2026, ensuring continuity of operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, freight forwarding, transportation, or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations, HTS classification, and trade compliance requirements.
- Proven experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with ERP/WMS systems.
- Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese and English.
- Experience in manufacturing or capital equipment industries.
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP systems.
- Prior experience in a startup or facility launch environment.
- Primarily office-based role with regular interaction on the warehouse/shipping floor.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) and standing during shipping/receiving inspections.
- Some domestic and international travel may be required.
