Job Category: TechnicalDegree Level: High School GraduateJob Description:Job Title: Estimation EngineerJob Summary:The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing manufacturing process plans, costs and timing estimates, reports, quotations, cost breakdowns, and other documentation as required by the customer for proposal submissions. Must plan and manage projects, specify and source machinery and systems. Accountable for the process including documentation, improvements, and handoff to the manufacturing facility.Responsibility:Prepare formal manufacturing plans and cost estimates for assigned programs, ensuring feasibility, timing, and capability to meet print specifications.Evaluate capital equipment, tooling, labor, raw materials, and overhead costs for new programs, including identification of new or unusual equipment sources.Review manufacturing feasibility and propose alternatives to reduce or contain costs using advanced manufacturing methods.Develop and present advanced manufacturing strategies, including process flows, gauging methods, and equipment selection aligned with company principles.Initiate and support APQP documentation, including Process Flows, Process Sheets, FMEAs, and Control Plans.Prepare and submit required customer documentation to support quotations and technical reviews.Assist account managers with customer presentations and support prototype procurement, fixturing concepts, and program timelines.Coordinate with customers, suppliers, sub-contractors, and internal departments to align on program requirements and approvals.Participate in MRB/KRB meetings to validate processing and cost assumptions prior to program acceptance.Support production launch activities, including PPAP submission, PSW, and internal timing plans.Implement Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S and Kaizen systems across production stages.Maintain accurate records and respect customer confidentiality, including NDA compliance and internal data sharing.Academic/Educational Requirements:Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent, or a related field preferred.Required Skills/Experience:3+ years of experience in cost estimation, process planning, or manufacturing engineering in a CNC machining environment.Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and equipment.Proficiency in reading technical drawings and applying GD&T principles.Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and other automotive quality standards.Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD/CAM software tools.Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.What Linamar Has to Offer· Competitive Compensation· Employee Benefits package includes but not limited to, Drug, Dental & Vision etc.· 401k Program· Opportunities for career advancement.· Sustainability Counsel· Community based outreach supporting both local and global initiatives and charities· Discounts for local vendors and events, including auto supplier discounts.About UsLinamar Corporation is a Canadian-founded global manufacturer, renowned for its advanced engineering and innovative product development across diverse industries and markets.
