A well established, global supplier of technical grade stampings and production volume machined parts to highly exacting industries, is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker to join their team of dedicated, industry professionals!The Toolmaker is a skilled professional responsible for crafting and maintaining precision tools and dies used in progressive die stamping processes. Your primary role involves interpreting engineering blueprints, operating a variety of machinery and equipment, and using precision measurement tools to create or repair intricate components. Tool and Die Makers play a critical role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of manufacturing operations.Need help applying? Call us at 541-746-6200!Duties and Responsibilities for Tool & Die Maker:
- Measures, marks, and scribes stock, such as:
- Tool steel and carbide
- Work with detailed drawings to produce components
- Set up and operate machine tools, such as:
- Lathes
- Drill Presses
- Punch Presses
- Milling Machines
- Grinders
- Machine parts to blueprint specifications
- Perform all phases of component manufacture and tool assembly
- Operate all tool room equipment
- Fit and install precision components during tool assembly
- Verify dimensions of parts and installation of components
- Perform press set up and First Article Inspection of newly-assembled tools
- Execute all phases of troubleshooting and tool repair
- Provide back-up die repair and maintenance as required to support press room schedule
- Must be able to read & use a tape measure
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as:
- Procedure manuals
- Operating and maintenance instructions
- Detailed drawings
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as:
- Probability
- Statistical inference
- Plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- At least 3-5 years of experience working in a metal stamping tool and die shop, with specific experience in:
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing dies
- Operating surface grinders, lathes, mills, drills, presses, and precision measuring tools
- Following schedules and meeting deadlines, all while working safely and meeting quality standards
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to operate precision tools and machinery, manipulate small components, and perform intricate tasks with precision.
- Ability to lift tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Lifting materials over 50 pounds should be done with a team lift or using one of the lifting tools in the facility (e.g., crane).
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Accurate close vision is crucial for reading technical drawings, measuring components, and ensuring the precision of work.
