Your RoleGensler’s Austin Office is seeking an architect who specializes in helping tell stories and create experiences in the context of science and technical spaces. You will understand Science “from the inside” and believe that the planning and design of labs and other technical spaces can make a difference. As a Technical Designer, you will have experience with pre-design, programming & laboratory planning, and knowledge of specialty architectural environments. You are a subject matter expert on the design and documentation of medium to large lab projects – which may include research and clinical labs, Vivaria, or other technical lab types.For more information about our Science Facilities practice, visit us here:What You Will DoManage communication between project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultantsResolve complex technical and design issues with team to produce innovative technical/constructible solutionsDirect production of drawings, specifications, and construction administration tasksResponsible for oversight and delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical qualityResolves complex technical/design issues and detailing and provides guidance and mentorship to teamMaintain and oversee the project manual and specificationsConduct on-site observations and document site reviewsInterface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the projectActively participate and contribute to the financial performance of projectReview and contribute to proposals and contracts with Project ManagerEnsure projects conform to the contractActively leading teams for successful delivery of projectsManaging client expectations, team communication and oversight of consultant coordinationContribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programsEstablish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationshipsYour QualificationsRegistered Architect requiredBachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited school required5+ years of related experience, including demonstrated success as a project architect on range of project typesRevit experience requiredFull knowledge of architectural principles/practicesWorking knowledge of building codes, standards and building structuresExperience with the entire project lifecycle and design process through post-occupancyExperience designing wet labs and computational labsFlexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of developmentA quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environmentExcellent written + verbal communication and management skills to include leadership, organization, and client relationship management skillsWell-rounded, strategic thinker with an integrated approach to design, management, and technical project resolution who can help shape a vision for the future*TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE SUBMIT CURRENT PORTFOLIO AND/OR WORK SAMPLES IN PDF FORMAT**This is an in-person position.
