The Corporate Reporting Accountant will be a critical member of the controllership department with primary responsibly for maintenance of system generated financial reports. Related responsibilities include adherence to Statutory and GAAP accounting principles associated with financial reporting. This position will require the individual to perform analyses of monthly/quarterly/annual financial results for internal and external presentation. The Corporate Reporting Accountant should expect to demonstrate an understanding of GAAP and Statutory accounting and its impact on reporting structure. In addition, this role will include preparation of journal entries, analysis, and performance of account reconciliations. This position will report directly to the Director of Accounting Operations and will also have cross-functional responsibilities with enterprise GL system maintenance and reporting. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience with Oracle GL.Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing
  • On a monthly basis, participate in the preparation and processing of manual and automated journal entries for the close. This will include the maintenance of existing automated allocation journals and the creation of new ones.
  • This individual will maintain Oracle General Ledger chart of accounts maintenance on an ongoing basis based on upper management requests and organizational changes. This includes the occasional updating of WEB ADI upload templates per upgrades to Oracle EBS Systems.
  • On a monthly basis, work with the Financial Reporting and Corporate Accounting Departments to assist with the monthly closing of the general ledger in accordance with the published close calendar and within the metrics established by finance management. Responsibilities also include the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly reconciliations
  • On a quarterly and annual basis, provide support with the preparation of the required NAIC statutory financial statements (orange blanks) and help ensure compliance with the published instructions. Oversee the responsibilities related to the organization DOI membership reporting.
  • On a quarterly and annual basis, participate in the preparation and processing of Balance Sheet, Revenue and Detailed manual and automated journal entry reports and trial balances out of the Oracle Corporate Ledger to support external Auditor's requests to validate the audited financial statements based on the approved timeline.
  • This individual will be expected to demonstrate strong technical skills to produce and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports to support the financial statements and related analysis. Experience in this area will be leveraged by various departments to meet reporting needs within Financial Reporting and Tax, Corporate Accounting and Provider Accounting, with an opportunity to streamline processes and create efficiencies within Finance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Experience (minimum years required):
  • 5+ years of professional experience; systems, accounting and insurance industry experience preferred.
Skill Requirements
  • Must have knowledge and experience with financial statement preparation as well as application of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) GL account structure maintenance or a similar Enterprise Resource Planning ERP GL system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, (Excel, Word, etc.), Exel4Apps GL Wand report writer, Oracle BI Publisher reporting.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, writing and communications skills.
  • Ability to respond to constantly changing circumstances while performing a cross-functional role.
  • Knowledge of statutory accounting principles is a plus.
