Process Controls Engineer I
- Corning, NY
- Training
- Full-time
- Working individually or alongside experienced professionals in multi-disciplinary teams to design, develop, and implement process controls solutions for manufacturing processes
- Working with subject matter experts to develop in-depth process knowledge and fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes to identify new promising process control opportunities
- Evaluating existing process control strategies and then proposing and developing enhancements/improvements to increase process efficiency and plant profitability (e.g., via increased yields or throughput); this could mean enhancing PID-based control strategies with cascade control, feedforward, gain-scheduling, optimized loop pairing, etc. or applying advanced, model-based control algorithms, such as model predictive control (MPC), internal model control (IMC), etc.
- Developing and maintaining MPC-based process control solutions throughout the organization
- Working closely with manufacturing to define appropriate hardware and software platforms for implementing process control solutions
- Facilitating the transfer of new process control technologies into manufacturing and providing training to manufacturing and engineering personnel
- Generating intellectual property through technical reports, invention disclosures, and patent applications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with coursework focused on controls is required.
- A Master's degree is preferred.
