- Conduct group and individual counseling sessions with clients and their family, including clinical assessments/ evaluations as needed.
- Teach clients coping mechanisms and best wats to prevent relapse
- Motivate individuals to desist from an addictive behavior and accept treatment
- Help patients setup a support network required in overcoming an addiction
- Conduct or supervise urine drug screens as needed.
- Maintain contact with family members and provide and/ or refer for services as needed.
- Complete PPW (pregnant and post-partum) intakes and screening when necessary.
- Document, review, and maintain detailed case records on all clients.
- Review and/or prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports as required.
- Participates in all staff conferences regarding the evaluation of client's progress and future treatment goals.
- Work with Clinical Staff, Program Staff and Administrator regarding client and program progress.
- Adhere to the Policies and Procedures or of LHRC, agency Programs, CARF and Louisiana State Licensing Guidelines.
- Maintains and compiles data for program evaluation.
- Establish and maintain liaison with various social services agencies that may be of assistance in alleviating client's problems, refers clients to appropriate medical legal or social personnel to accommodate their clients.
- Provide addiction- prevention resources to the community and assist with organizing public outreach to educate people on risks associated with alcohol and drug abuse as needed.
- Participate in educational workshops to identify new techniques of resolving substance abuse.
- Maintain updated Certifications and Licensure requirements.
- Possess a minimum of a master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field with at least two years of supervised work under a licensed mental health professional or possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field with at least four years supervised work under a licensed mental health professional.
- Possess current board certification/licensing for counseling or social work in the State of Louisiana.
- Possess mental health clinical experience working with individuals with addictive disorders
- If recovering substance abuser, a minimum of two years of continuous abstinence.
- Possess current board certification for substance abuse counseling in the state of Louisiana , and must have been licensed for at least two years.
