JOB TITLE: Health Information AssociateFair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status: Non-exemptReports to: Data Quality ManagerJOB SUMMARY: The Health Information Associate is a member of the Health Information Management team at Spectra Health. They balance their time between two key areas of the Health Information Management team: records and referrals. They work to ensure that health records remain secure and are disseminated in accordance with company policy and federal law. They also work to process and maintain clinical referrals both incoming and outgoing to community partners of Spectra Health. This position communicates with all teams at Spectra Health but works closely with the Clinical Records Specialist and Clinical Referrals Specialist to provide support to those respective specialties.ORGANIZATIONAL PHILOSOPHY:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Scan, label and attach paper health information to the appropriate health record as it is received from other health partners.
  • Processes Requests of Information (ROIs) from patients and/or other health partners in accordance with company policy and federal law.
  • Communicate directly with patients regarding health record questions including the status of referral(s), and other pertinent information.
  • Process, organize, and deliver clinical referrals and related materials.
  • Be able to track and or find records and referrals as requested by other staff.
  • Other duties assigned and deemed appropriate by the Data Quality Manager.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records and Microsoft Office products
Preferred:
  • Previous experience with Epic and Dentrix EMRs
  • Knowledge of insurance carriers and medical assistance programs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Health Information Associate position is primarily a deskjob that requires the ability to sit for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) at a desk or workstation. Periodically, the position requires lifting or carrying items that would be appropriate in an office environment, not more than 20lbs.REMOTE WORK: The Health Information Associate is not eligible for hybrid or remote work.
