Type of Position: Direct HireResponsibilities:
- Assist the controller in ensuring the smooth, accurate, and efficient operation of key accounting functions by overseeing and guiding accounting staff.
- Oversee accounting responsibilities in various areas, including Fixed and Leased Assets, Warranty Reserve, Allowance for Returns and Other, General Ledger, and more.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and internal control standards. Liaise with both internal and external auditors to meet their requirements.
- Manage treasury duties, including approving bank wire/ACH payments after verifying accuracy and proper authorization, as well as signing vendor checks (one of two required signatures) and reviewing vendor payment amounts.
- Manage Accounts Receivable duties, including cash posting, customer credit analysis to mitigate risk, customer collections, and cash flow assessment.
- Review and authorize customer credit note requests and selected accounting reports, ensuring accuracy before submission to the controller.
- Supervise certain Accounts Payable activities, including tracking utilities and approving invoices from steel vendors.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, analyze accounting transactions and cost center expenses, and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Handle payroll accounting with assistance from the Human Resources Generalist.
- Prepare financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, and assist with forecast compilation and annual budgeting.
- Complete, review, or support regulatory filings such as sales and use tax, property tax, annual reports, and unclaimed property filings. Ensure timely tax payments.
- Support the Controller with various other accounting tasks as required.
- A Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that demonstrates the required skills and knowledge to perform essential duties.
- Previous experience with successful manufacturing companies is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a manufacturing setting.
- At least two (2) years of recent experience overseeing accounts, budgeting, cost accounting, credit/collections, and finance, ideally in companies with annual sales exceeding $25 million.
- Strong working knowledge of both manual and automated accounting systems, along with advanced financial analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs, especially Excel, is required. SAP and/or AS400 experience is preferred.
