- Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new and existing products.
- Evaluate mechanical and structural systems for example but not limited to machine structures, winches/ gearboxes, motors, sheaves, drums, enclosures, and operator's cab.
- Evaluate the tolerance stack up for new or existing designs and recommending class fits for the application.
- Prepare component and system drawings (layouts, assemblies, installation drawings).
- Component and system drafting, properly annotating drawings with dimensions, surface finishes, welds (AWS D14.1 or D1.1), and tolerance fits for manufacturing and machine assemblies.
- Mentor other engineers by providing guidance, feedback, and support within the team and other supporting engineering teams.
- Perform and review engineering calculations to support the project design. Check drawings for completeness and provide feedback.
- Collaborate with all machine system development groups in engineering within the company and work with vendors and/or contractors.
- Participate in departmental meetings, provide technical specifications and reports, and communicate any updates, new ideas, changes, or issues.
- Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries
- Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (both internal and external)
- Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Companywide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability
- Special projects or work as assigned
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Detailed oriented and able to follow customers’ specifications and apply industry codes and standards.
- Able to work in a structured 3-D environment. 2-D design a plus. Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks a plus.
- Strong knowledge in reviewing industry codes and standards compliance.
- Strong Mechanical design and the processes involved in producing a part or parts being burned, cut/saw, machined, formed, weldments, sheet metal, castings, and forgings.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural connections being bolted, pinned, or welded.
- Working knowledge of bill- of- material management on both the drawings and within an ERP system.
- Experience working in a structured release environment composing of new releases and engineering change notices (ECN).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications.
- Accredited engineering degree with emphasis in mechanical or structural engineering.
- 6+ years of work experience in aforementioned engineering discipline.
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Lanco employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Lanco does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status).
- Top candidates will have 10+ years of experience in aforementioned engineering discipline and a proven track record of leading multiple projects and teams.
- This is primarily a sedentary office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances
- Minimal travel required- up to 10% domestic and international travel requirements.
