Location: Durham, United States Job reference: R-193987 Date posted: 03/05/2024This is what you will do:We are seeking a meticulous, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Scientist - Vector Analytics, specializing in recombinant Adeno-Associated Virus (rAAV) products. In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of our rAAV-based products through rigorous testing and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields, with hands-on experience in analytical procedures and methodologies. As a member of our AAV Therapeutic Development & Production team, you will be supporting the molecular assessment of our AAV vectors working closely with our R&D teams to provide in-process and final sample analytics.You will be responsible for:
  • Titering rAAV by multiple methods (ddPCR, qPCR, etc)
  • Evaluation of packaged genome (electrophoresis and sequencing-based)
  • Assessing overall purity (CE-SDS, qPCR, ELISA, etc)
  • Sequence analysis and sample prep for NGS
  • Writing reports, SOPs, and generating CoAs. Accurate and detailed documentation of sample records is critical using systems such as electronic lab notebooks.
  • General laboratory operations - Maintaining inventories, monitoring/calibrating/cleaning equipment and checking stocks of required consumables.
  • Sharing data/results in group settings and larger organizational meetings
  • Evaluating new methodologies and staying well-versed with cutting edge methods
You will need to have:
  • Bachelor or above in Biology or related science discipline (at least 2 years with Bachelor or 0-1 year with Masters)
  • Proficient with standard AAV analytical assays: ddPCR, qPCR, DNA content assessment, ce-SDS, ELISA, etc.
  • Experience with sample prep for NGS and/or an aptitude for general sequence analysis
  • Excellent research task oversight skills including adherence to procedures, best practices and detailed documentation/record keeping
  • Superior organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize multiple demands and work efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize standard office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) or other Project Management/eNotebooks software
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an lab environment. As is typical of a lab-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/degown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
  • NGS analysis skills
  • Experience with cell potency assay development and evaluation
  • Experience with analytics relating to plasmid DNA quality
