This position gives you the opportunity to utilize your accounting knowledge to apply professional accounting principles and techniques to accurately complete a variety of accounting functions. If you thrive in a teamwork environment and are ready to take the next step in your career, this is the job for you!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an Accountant 1, you will utilize the Treasury's reporting software to obtain necessary reports to create monthly cash journals, enter and post investment activity into general ledger software, and verify ending balances. You will play a role in retrieving and analyzing investment transaction data and updating as necessary. Work includes entering data into SWIF's investment system and assisting Accountant 2s with month end reconciliation and Treasury daily activity reports. You will have the opportunity to communicate with money managers and Treasury regarding trade tickets and related investment information. As a member of the Operations Section of the Financial Management Division's Accounting Department, you will focus primarily on aiding in the daily activities of the Accounting Department, which include, but are not limited to:
  • Policy and claims accounting operations
  • Daily reconciliations of premium
  • Processing of checks
  • Input of claims and policy adjustments
  • Reconciliation with other SWIF departments

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the Scranton office. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year as a Fiscal Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration), and fifteen college credits in accounting; or
  • Five years of Bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
