Rankin County School DistrictJob title:Teacher Speech Pathologist Special EducationReports to:PrincipalReceives guidance from:Principal, Director of SPED, District Administration and Support Staff, Assistant SuperintendentOvertime status:Compliant with position, salary and FLSA regulationsJob purpose:In keeping a tradition of excellence, the purpose of the Teacher Speech Pathologist Special Education is to evaluate and serve students as listed in their Individualized Education Program.Duties and responsibilities:Perform comprehensive assessments and reevaluations services in the area of articulation, language, fluency and voiceMember of the multidisciplinary evaluation/eligibility (MET) team to communicate evaluation resultsAttend Eligibility and IEP meetings with parents and special education service providers to discuss evaluation results, determine eligibility and discuss the IEPResponsible for data gathering, parent interview, assessment and report writing regarding the evaluationResponsible for Hearing and Vision Screenings as neededProvide therapy for students as designated by their IEPMaintain and improve professional competence by participation in training sessions and classesImplement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectivesImplement District initiatives pertinent to student’s age, grade and/or placementAssess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports according to district policy, as well as, the policy that is set by the state for progress marking of an implemented IEPTake necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilitiesAssist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, implement reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just mannerMake provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable termsLead and attend staff meetings/trainings as applicable; serve on staff committeesAssume responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature, new research findings, for attending appropriate professional meetings and conferences, and to maintain any credits and/or continued education for maintenance of licensure/qualifications required for the positionMaintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable useUndergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy proceduresMaintain confidentialityRegular, dependable, in person attendance is an essential function of this positionPerform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policyRead, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of ConductQualifications:Education Level: Master’s degree in Language Speech PathologyCertifications: MDE LicenseOther Requirements:Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
