- Participate in the district-level decision-making process to establish and review the district's goals and objectives related to the Fine Arts program. Ensure that goals and objectives are developed using effective collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques.
- Monitor and reevaluate Fine Arts program on an ongoing basis using input from teachers and principals, applied research, and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments where appropriate.
- Ensure that the necessary time, resources, materials, and technology to support accomplishment of education goals of the Fine Arts program are available.
- Collaborate with curriculum department, principals, teachers, and other instructional staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on a systematic review and analysis.
- Engage instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional tools and materials to meet student learning needs.
- Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and campus performance objectives.
- Oversee staff development programs and provide effective activities that support the Fine Arts program, incorporate input from teachers and principals, and are consistent with the district's mission.
- Interpret and articulate information regarding the Fine Arts program to parents and community.
- Plans, organizes, and supervises all local and state contests/competitions and special events for the district.
- Keeps abreast of technical, legislative, and professional trends and developments affecting the district's Fine Arts program and disseminates this information to appropriate personnel.
- Participates in professional development programs that lead to improved job performance.
- Supports the Fine Arts booster club activities.
- Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in band.
- Provide for band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, and UIL.
- Support and guide band booster club activities.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with other member of the staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs.
- Be a positive role model for students and support mission of the school district.
- Manage student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Accompany and supervise students on out-of-town trips activities and arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Maintains current inventory of district instruments and equipment.
- Initiates purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.
- Assists in recruiting, selecting, training Fine Arts staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
- Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
