Together, we are embarking on a journey where each and every one of us, individually and collectively, welcomes and celebrates individual differences.The Quality Engineer has the role of deploying and facilitating the quality culture in Motion Drive Products in New Berlin, Wisconsin ensuring and controlling quality to exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations and representing the customers voice within local teams, providing customer experience feedback and input. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing all aspects of product, process, manufacturing and service quality. The position requires continual improvement of quality methods and processes regarding resolution of highly complex problems in collaboration with local and global product management, customer service, R&D (Research & Development) and other key stakeholders.Your responsibilities
  • Develop and implement continuous improvements of product, process and manufacturing quality
  • Support reliability engineering and supplier quality teams where necessary to ensure consistent tools and methodologies are applied across functional teams
  • Provide technical advice in specialized quality assurance technology such as nondestructive testing, statistical techniques, assembly techniques, quality codes and regulations. Participate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences
  • Report provide direction and action plans for key improvements in quality metrics including FPY (​First Pass Yield), CCRP cycle time, DPPM (Defective Parts Per Million), warranty costs and other process quality metrics as agreed to with LBU (Local Business Unit​) management
  • Advance ways to expand RTY (Rolled Throughput Yield) metrics in key process and manufacturing areas to build in quality, reduce rework and improve cycle time
  • Actively participate on BU (Business Unit​) or regional quality management committees/programs to align and share/implement best practices
  • Support assessment methods to drive a continuous improvement mindset in all aspects of LBU performance
  • Support technical staff ensuring tests and procedures are properly understood, documented and evaluated and that product modifications are carried out where necessary
Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience working in Quality, Opex, SCM (Supply Chain Management​) or Manufacturing roles
  • Large project management experience preferred
  • Project Management certification and American Society for Quality (ASQ) or other quality certifications preferred
  • ISO auditor experience or prior oversight for QMS (Quality Management System) preferred Six Sigma Certification
  • Up to 10 percent travel required
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
