The Operations Specialist will report to the Operations Manager. This position will support the Operations Team in the planning, organizing, and development of division-wide operations. This position will support efforts to create and implement policies, oversee recruiting and hiring, help foster a deep sense of belonging for all staff, and ensure our work is grounded in anti-racist values and disability justice, centering those most impacted. This position will serve as a co-lead in our division's equity, racial, and social justice (ERSJ), disability justice, inclusion, and belonging work. The Operations Specialist will use an ERSJ and disability justice approach throughout their work.DDECSD is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining services to meet the needs of children from prenatal to five, their families, and caregivers; people with developmental disabilities and delays and their families, and community-based organizations. Our division is seeking team members who are committed to promoting racial, social, and economic equity for all people in King County.Job DutiesTo be considered minimally qualified applicant must demonstrate a background that provides the knowledge, skills and ability to:
  • Support the DDECSD Teams and Operations Manager in the development and refinement of internal policies and procedures, hiring and onboarding practices, division-wide tracking and documentation systems, and other operations related projects.
  • Support the development of standardized processes, materials, templates, flow charts, and other products to support and track internal processes and deliverables.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to division work teams and other divisional partners to support the use of technology and information-sharing platforms, and the learning of standardized processes, policies and procedures, and resources.
  • Act as co-lead and coordinate the division's Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EIB) Change Team. This includes supporting the facilitation of meetings, leading trainings/dialogues, co-designing and implementing strategies centering racial and disability justice.
  • Partner with ERSJ Coordinating Bodies, Human Resources, and interdepartmental teams to advance equity outcomes.
  • Support the implementation of any operational policies and procedures, equitable hiring and onboarding practices, and retention initiatives rooted in equity and disability justice.
  • Support the development of inclusive evaluation processes and employee engagement programs within the division and in collaboration with the department.
  • Partner with internal teams to support the application and use of internal system platforms such as the Modern Workforce Suite, Agiloft, and other platforms as needed.
  • Plan, convene, support and lead various internal and/or external workgroups.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsWE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in business operations, project/program coordination, or a related field.
  • Commitment to racial equity, disability justice, and inclusive practices.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience designing and facilitating trainings and dialogues on equity and social justice, especially around race and disability, and team development initiatives.
  • Ability to co-create and refine processes in partnership with those impacted, centering equity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate and develop both internal and external partnerships.
  • Brings curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement at both a personal and at an organizational level.
  • Ability to coordinate, schedule, and facilitate effective and efficient meetings, and follow through on action items to ensure completion.
  • Strong communication skills that prioritize collaboration, clarity, accessibility, and meaningful engagement with the ability to communicate in a politically sensitive manner, clearly express division goals and objectives, and establish mechanisms and encourage the exchange of ideas and information up, down, and across an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in using data to inform continuous quality improvement.
  • Knowledge, competency, and experience with Modern Workplace tools including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to engage culturally diverse teams and community audiences.
  • Capable of navigating ambiguity, multiple priorities, and fast-changing needs.
  • Strategic thinker who centers impact, access, and community relevance.
  • Commitment to sharing knowledge and insights in ways that honor different communication styles and learning needs of diverse audiences for understanding and decision-making.

This position is expected in the office one (1) day a week and may increase depending on business needs. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
  • This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.
