Job Description:POSITION SUMMARY: To work collaboratively with parents, students, and staff to create and support proactive, intensive programming for at-risk students in order to resolve such personal, emotional and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered them.QUALIFICATIONS:Kentucky Clinical Social Work CertificateExperience working with trauma-exposed youth preferred.REPORTS TO: Director of Safe SchoolsPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the development of preventative social services and intervention plans to meet the needs of students who are at risk for placement in long term/residential care facilities.
  • Assist in the development of alternative education programs and support services to meet the needs of students transitioning from long term/residential treatment to their home school within BCPS.
  • Work collaboratively with school and district staff as part of a trauma-informed effort to identify and assist students whose learning, behavior and relationships have been impacted by trauma.
  • Work with MTSS/PBIS school and district personnel within the focus and terms of the grant to establish team goals, collaborate with the project director and mental health coaches to communicate and evaluate progress on a regular basis.
  • Helps parents and/or students identify and find ways to overcome barriers to school attendance, achievement, and social functioning through collaborative planning with available community agencies and resources.
  • Evaluates the need for referrals to community agencies where applicable and works collaboratively with school staff and community partners to organize intervention strategies, set objectives, monitor progress, and measure outcomes of services within the school setting.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and administration at Bullitt Alternative Center to develop and facilitate transition plans for students returning to their assigned home school that has previously been alternatively placed.
  • Cooperates in accomplishing school and board objectives by ensuring familiarity with current laws and regulations relating to specific job responsibilities and adhering to board policies.
  • Complies with KRS mandate pertaining to reporting suspected cases of child abuse and/or neglect.
  • Remains current with crisis intervention techniques and assists in crisis situations by assessing the situation, providing understanding and support, and offering alternatives to action in order to reduce the tension of students and parents in crisis
  • Conducts individual and/or group counseling when appropriate.
  • Works with parents and/or students to handle problems and concerns in a positive, sensitive, and constructive manner.
  • Creates a favorable professional image in the school community.
  • Interprets policies, programs and activities to parents and community.
  • Ensures that oral written communications to all audiences are clear, accurate and carefully composed.
  • Collaborates and communicates with staff at schools to ensure that students get the appropriate needs met
  • Handles confidential matters or information in a professional manner.
  • Works with and through the organizational ladder when solving problems or seeking change.
  • Maintains a proper student/staff relationship at all times.
  • Maintains accurate, complete and legible records submitted on time; completes reports as required.
  • Is regular in attendance and punctual.
  • Performs any other duties as designated by the Superintendent.
This position is for the 2025-2026 school year.Salary based on board approved salary schedule for the 2025-2026 school year.NOTICE OF POSSIBLE WAIVER: To expedite the hiring for this position, the district may apply for a waiver to prevent disruption of necessary instructional or support services (KRS 160.380).
