Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Governor's Chef performs skilled and specialized cooking, baking, and food preparation work at the Governor's Residence for the Governor's family, events, and office as requested. Work involves the performance of a variety of duties to prepare, arrange food, and ensure the event space meets principal's expectations for luncheons, banquets, parties, receptions, and socials for guests of the Governor and/or First Spouse, their guests, and staff of the Governor's Office and/or First Spouse's Office.Human Resource Contact: Nicki Reitmeyer / 307-777-6219 / nicki.reitmeyer@wyo.govESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
  • Prepares meals for the Governor and/or staff as well as the First Spouse as requested by the principal directly or by staff for the Governor's Residence, Governor's Office, or off-site location as determined by the Governor's Office or First Spouse's Office. Prepares menus at least one week in advance to be shared with First Spouse for consultation and approval. For larger events, menu may need to be submitted earlier for approval.
  • Plans and engages in culinary activities to meet special menu requirements such as dietary restrictions or traditional cultural dishes.
  • Prepares, executes, and cleans kitchen and event space even if outside of typical work hours. Polish dining room silverware on regular basis or before every use. Hand wash and maintain state china to be utilized for events when the Governor is present for a meal.
  • Obtains food from storage or supplier and ensures that kitchen, kitchen utensils, and equipment are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Supervise all kitchen contractors as hired for any event held at the Governor's Residence. Coordinate with off-site catering staff as designated by organizations utilizing the Governor's Residence as a venue.
  • Keep a current inventory of bar, food, and kitchen supplies. Keep linens washed and ironed. Notify residence manager if equipment needs repaired or maintenance.
  • Prepares table diagrams at least one week in advance to be shared with the Governor's Executive Assistant and /or First Spouse's Chief of Staff for consultation and approval.
  • Be available to answer the phone and monitor guest arrivals as needed.
QualificationsPREFERENCES:Preference will be given to applicants with culinary certificate or culinary experience with the knowledge of dietary restrictions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:None - See "Preferences"Necessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:The demands of the job occasionally result in considerable fatigue requiring periods of rest. Lifting or moving large pans weighing between 10-25 pounds, and work activities require constant standing while preparing, cooking, and serving food. Occasional requirements to lift or move objects weighing over 50 pounds.NOTES:
