Travel: Up to 50%Job Overview:The Controls Engineer III spearheads all aspects of a controls project, from inception and investigation to on-site setup and post-sales assistance. This position necessitates proficiency in PLC programming, electrical design, and problem-solving. The perfect candidate has background in baggage handling or conveyor/material handling systems and acts as an expert within the team.Desired Qualifications:
- Candidates at Level 3 prefered; those at Level 2 with a solid foundation will be taken into consideration.
- Experience in baggage handling or conveyor/material handling is greatly valued.
- Located at Louisville, KY office; remote work is an option for highly experienced BHS industry professionals who can initiate in-office for the initial 1-2 months.
- Ready to relocate to Louisville for in-office assignments when not on the go.
- Traveling could be up to 50%.
- Proficient in Rockwell PLC and HMI products; added PLC experience is advantageous.
- Able to collaborate with Electrical Design Engineers to confirm system designs.
- Should be able to secure airport security clearance.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (Sponsorship available for the right candidate).
- Detailed understanding of AC/DC control systems.
- Utilization of computer software for design engineering and PLC programming.
- Diagnosing systems and effectively conveying status.
- Creating and validating electrical diagrams while coaching junior engineers.
- Leading project teams as the controls lead engineer.
- Developing system test plans for field commissioning.
- Providing technical documentation, training, and process enhancements.
- Proficiency in multiple PLC programming languages and control device networks.
- Ability to interpret and elaborate on electrical designs and system specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours based on project demands.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (EE, EET, or CECS preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in the field.
- Experience with:
- PLC programming, debugging, and commissioning.
- Panel/hardware design.
- AutoCAD (AutoCAD E preferred).
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Electrical codes such as UL508a, NEC, and NFPA.
- Practical mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of VFDs, Servos, Sensors, and Vision Systems.
- Background in material handling or baggage handling industry.
- Office setting and field locations as necessary.
- Team-oriented, stimulating, and achievement-focused environment.
- Typical office hours: Monday-Friday, 7 AM – 4 PM or 8 AM – 5 PM.
- Work hours may vary on job sites to meet project requirements.
- Extended periods of sitting.
- Frequent typing and data entry.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds when needed.
