Position Highlights The SINGH LAB in the Department of Plant Sciences—Extension seeks to fill the role of Research Technician IV. This position supports the USDA-funded project's tasks focused on developing web-based decision-support tools. The incumbent will be involved in building innovative software solutions that will empower farmers, streamline data collection, and enhance decision-making in agriculture. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing robust web-based applications while managing a data pipeline that collects, modifies, and stores large volumes of agricultural data.This role requires expertise across frontend, backend, database management, cloud infrastructure, and geospatial data integration. Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in interdisciplinary research in developing robust web-based applications while managing a data pipeline capable of collecting, modifying, and storing large volumes of agricultural data.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams for building innovative software solutions that will empower farmers, streamline data collection, and enhance decision-making in agriculture.
- Assist in developing research manuscripts for publication based on modeling and fieldwork results.
- Participate in conferences, and stakeholder meetings to present research findings to consumers, growers and researchers as directed.
- Install, maintain, and operate laboratory and field equipment as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript and Python is required.
- Expertise in frontend development, specifically ReactJS, is required.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure is required. (AWS preferred).
- Strong grasp of full-stack web development is required (NodeJS & MongoDB preferred).
- Ability to analyze data, interpret results, and make decisions to advance the research in an independent manner or with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Bachelors or Masters graduate student in software engineering and related fields.
- Experience managing data using NumPy and Pandas is preferred.
