Job DescriptionJob Title: Power Substation & Distribution TechnicianLocation: Remote (based out of Carlsbad, NM)
Schedule: Rotational – 2 Weeks On / 1 Week Off (flight cost covered by client)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overtime: 20–30 Hours/Week at 1.5x Pay RateWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Substation & Distribution Technician to join our team. This role supports the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of power distribution systems and automation controls. Based out of Carlsbad, NM, the position operates on a rotational schedule, allowing candidates to reside anywhere in the U.S. Lodging, per diem, and essential equipment (company truck and laptop) are provided.Key Responsibilities:Install, commission, and troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 6kV to 500kV, including transformers, breakers, and reclosers.Test and maintain relay protection systems (electromechanical and microprocessor-based) from leading OEMs such as ABB, Siemens, and Schneider Electric.Configure, validate, and troubleshoot relay settings using tools like acSELerator QuickSet and Architect Software.Perform automation and SCADA system configuration and testing for utility and industrial power environments.Support synchronous motor systems and other high-voltage equipment through preventive maintenance and fault analysis.Analyze and validate single-line diagrams, logic equations, and protection/control (P&C) design documentation.Provide root cause analysis and diagnostics for equipment failures and substation outages.Adhere to safety standards and regulations in high-voltage environments.Ideal Candidate Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.10+ years of hands-on experience in substation maintenance, power distribution, or related fields.Proficiency in relay programming and configuration tools such as acSELerator QuickSet, Architect Software, and related automation tools.Strong knowledge of synchronous motors, relay protection strategies, and control systems integration.Familiarity with AutoCAD for interpreting and designing electrical systems.Proven project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.Exceptional analytical, communication, and troubleshooting abilities.Valid driver’s license and availability for rotational travel.What We Offer:Rotational schedule: 2 weeks on, 1 week off.Competitive pay with overtime (20–30 hours/week at 1.5x rate).Comprehensive travel benefits, including company-provided lodging, per diem, truck, and laptop.Opportunity to join a growing and stable team in the field service industry.This is a long-term opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in power distribution systems and automation technologies.
