- Collaborate with key stakeholders in the Recording Head Technology and the drive design organizations on analysis & characterization requests.
- Develop failure analysis plans, analyze results, summarize the findings, and communicate the root cause understanding with conclusions to the requesting stakeholders and teams.
- Work with both engineers and lab staff in the team to carry out the detailed sample testing and characterizations.
- Use the general failure analysis tools such as microscopes, probing, ISI, AFM, and microscopy tools in the lab to characterize the samples, such as SEM, FIB, and TEM.
- Perform various levels of designing, developing, adjusting, repairing, calibrating, and testing lab fixtures / equipment.
- Develop and document failure analysis process flows and decision flows.
- Work with the product design experts to understand the design intentions of the various devices and features within the magnetic recording heads to guide FA approaches.

- Hands on lab experience with microscopes, probing, and other general lab tools
- Bachelor's degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, or Information Technology) and 8+ years of experience or master's degree in the same and 6+ years' experience or PhD and 3+ years' experience or equivalent experience and education.
- Hands on experience in using some microscopy tools such as SEM and FIB.
- Data analysis skills using languages such as JMP and data/result documentation with MS Office.
- Experience developing scripts for automated analysis of complex large data sets.
