1. Educational: Must have or be qualified to obtain the necessary certification from the Department of Education. Candidates with a Masters degree in speech-language pathology and holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-Sp or CCC-SLP) preferred. We also will consider CF-SLP.2. Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrates ability to work with staff, students, and parents; organizes time effectively; knows and uses current theory and techniques in the field of speech and language pathology; knows and uses current theory and techniques in the field of audiology as it affects the identification, referral and monitoring of students with hearing impairments.3. Experience: No previous experience required. However, candidates with school or clinic experience in this area will be given preference.SALARY BENEFITS: Salary range $52,750 - $96,000Essential Functions:1. Assists teachers in referring students with suspected speech and language impairments.
2. Provides thorough assessment and diagnosis of articulation/phonology, language impairments, voice and fluency. Identify hearing impairments and refers to physician for diagnosis.
3. Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of children with communication disorders.
4. Provides screening to identify children with speech and language disorders during annual speech and language hearing screenings.
5. Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
6. Provides classroom teachers and other school staff members with suggestions for enhancing students communication skills through their daily activities.
7. Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
8. Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy.
9. Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
10. Provides in-service education and serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech and language improvement.
11. Conducts state mandated hearing screening of grades l, 4, 7, l0, and students new to the school corporation. Conducts hearing screening of students referred by teachers and parents.
12. Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students.
13. Project a genuine care and concern for all students.
14. Assumes other responsibilities assigned by administrators.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
