- Analyze blueprints, technical documents, and project specifications to determine the overall cost of a product or project.
- Prepare and submit formal price and delivery quotations for customers and management.
- Research and evaluate cost factors such as materials, labor, production time, tooling, and other operational expenses.
- Source and manage bid pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, and develop strong working relationships with them.
- Identify and assess potential risks that could impact project costs, such as material shortages, price fluctuations, or production delays.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities by analyzing production processes and historical data. Make recommendations for cost efficiency to management.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to ensure that estimates align with manufacturing capabilities and company goals.
- Maintain detailed records of estimated and actual project costs and track expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude, with the ability to interpret complex data and technical documents.
- A deep understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present complex reports and negotiate with vendors.
- A high level of precision to ensure accurate estimates, as minor errors can significantly affect profitability.
- Competence in cost estimation software and ERP systems, along with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- The ability to plan and work efficiently to meet tight deadlines on multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
