  • Caring for refugee children while providing a safe and secure setting, maintaining line of sight with children at all times.
  • Schedules, organizes, encourages and participates in various kinds of games and activities in accordance with the therapeutic planning for the individual child and the other members of the community
  • Maintains that the Cottage is clean and orderly and assists residents with performing chores that correspond with this objective
  • Helping the children adjust to their new environment. Utilizes a variety of counseling techniques including: listening, giving information, reassurance, as well as support
Requirements:
  • Bilingual, English & Spanish
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid NYS Driver's License
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • Available to work evenings, overnights, and weekends

Position Summary:As a Bilingual Youth Worker your primary responsibility is to provide care for the unaccompanied refugee minors in our residential setting but your real job, the job you'll remember, is to help these boys adjust to their new environment & setting, provide care, safety & ensure their wellbeing while they're in our care. This flexible opportunity with day, evening and weekend hours will allow you to do something you're passionate about while gaining real-world experience. The Youth Workers aren't sitting on the sidelines observing they are engaged and active with children. You are constantly thinking of ways to keep daily life inclusive and interesting.
