GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENTResponsibilities involve a comprehensive knowledge of the role of the OR/CSS Department’s function in Inventory Control. The scope of judgment involves decision making to carry out the goals of the department within the area of Inventory Control and Cost Containment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Will be responsible for obtaining a thorough understanding of the hospital Inventory System and their interrelationships with OR/CSS.
  • Responsible for working on a daily basis with the OR Materials Manager to ensure coordination, integrity, and stability of the OR/CSS Inventory as it relates to adding new items, deleting items, product increases, volume increases, etc.
  • Will be responsible for input into the preparation of non-patient charge budget with follow-up responsibility (in excess of $7,000,000).
  • Will be responsible for obtaining a thorough understanding of the Hospital Inventory Systems and their interrelationship with OR/CSS.
  • Will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and annual review of department Inventory and Procedure Manual.
  • Will enforce hospital policies relating to safety and job performance.
  • Will submit reports and research as required to assist the OR Materials Manager in preparation of the annual budget.
  • Will maintain all files relating to departmental purchases and supply requisitions as well as coordinating pending, receiving, and close out files.
  • Participates in internal department management meetings and will be responsible to gather facts, present documentation or perform other tasks related to the development of procedures or programs relating to inventory.
  • Will be responsible for overseeing the storage and distribution of stock inventory entering the department in order to avoid stock piling and to ensure the sterility of products when required.
  • Responsible for communicating with departmental personnel initiating purchase requests and daily requisitions as to changes in inventory procedures and supplies.
  • Will participate in the departmental quality control program.
  • Will communicate on a daily basis to the Materials Management department regarding back ordered supplies.
  • Will assume the responsibilities of a supply clerk in the need of his/her absence.
  • Serves as a member of the OR Products Review Committee.
  • Responsible for procurement, storage, and record keeping for the OR Tissue Bank.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma required.One to three years direct experience in Inventory Control or the equivalent as determined by the Department Head.
