
Mobile Technician

- Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on tractor and trailer equipment
- Oversee recall campaigns and sign off on completion
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ABS system and specialized equipment including refrigerated units, lift gates, and frame alignment
- May onboard and mentor new technician trainees; act as team lead to coordinate shift support and tasks
- Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard • Professionally operate assigned service truck and according to company requirements; properly attend to service truck parts inventory
- Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
- Properly document damage to company equipment to estimate the cost of repairs
- Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
- Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs ensuring all holes are sealed and water-tight
- Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections sign-off
- 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 3 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and/or military equivalent experience
- Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
- Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
- Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed
- DOT-certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and/or military equivalent experience
- Welding certification
- Forklift certification and experience
- EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
