The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.Scope of Position:Responsible for developing processes for new Telecommunications product from concept to production. Improve upon the performance and design of existing products. Supports or leads technical workstreams to release new process into production environment.Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new processes or improve existing processes at Corning facilities worldwide.
  • Develop and execute a project plan.
  • Work with local plant process experts and global SMEs on new processes innovation.
  • Solve problems and improve processes based on fundamental understanding.
  • Ensure that manufacturing requirements are properly developed and documented in conjunction with appropriate manufacturing, production, and engineering personnel.
  • Provide information and technical assistance to manufacturing, engineering, and production personnel as required.
  • Develop documentation for each project and work with associated plant personnel to implement it.
  • Analyze process data using statistical tools (e.g. pareto, regression, time charting, analysis of variance, gauge R&R, etc.).
  • Review and interpret data to make recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes.
Travel Requirements:
  • 15% on average depending on the project requirements. Includes international travel.
Required Education:
  • BS in Engineering. Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Required Years and Area of Experience:
  • 2-4 years of experience of process engineering in a development or operations.
Required Skills:
  • Strong project management skills
  • Problem solving - Proficient in the use process control and analysis techniques to recommend decision based on thorough data analysis.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers and within multi-national groups.
  • Ability to clearly express technical ideas.
  • Experience designing components using CAD (SolidWorks, CREO).
Desired Skills:
  • Capable of performing data analysis using MS excel (SPC), DOE, KT Analysis, or Minitab software.
  • Familiar with fiber optic theory.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Personal initiative and commitment.
  • Organized with good planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships within cross functional groups; team building skills.
  • Positive attitude, flexible and good work ethic.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship.The range for this position is $81,287.00 - $111,770.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
