
Human Services Program Coordinator

- Manage food pantry operations, including distribution, inventory, ordering, paperwork, and reports.
- Perform intakes, interviews, and assessments of clients’ needs and perform follow-up case management for other supportive programs beyond emergency assistance if needed.
- Collect required documentation for on-site programs.
- Screen applicants to identify the urgency of need and direct individuals to appropriate services, providing accurate and timely information and referral.
- Assist Corps Officer(s) with special events or seasonal social service ministries, which may include tasks such as intake application, preparation for distribution, and coordination of volunteers. Evening or weekend hours may be discussed due to needs of these programs.
- Refer clients in need of pastoral care to Corps Officers for follow-up and partner with Corps Officers to link families and individuals to other services and programs the Corps provides.
- Establish and strengthen collaborations with community agencies as a client advocate, maximizing the ability to support informed decision-making for clients and provide resources for holistic care.
- Represent the Salvation Army at community meetings as assigned, providing feedback and information beneficial to the operation and service of the Corps.
- Maintain and regularly update a roster of Community Resources for referrals to distribute to clients.
- Assist Corps Officers in overseeing volunteers and community service workers.
- Maintain accurate, current, and confidential case records in accordance with The Salvation Army record keeping policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of statistics, records, and reports in applicable databases as requested by the Corps Officers.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Uphold the standards and principles of The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Human Services related field, from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in social services and client services and-or staff supervision.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of interactions with clients and fellow employees.
- Awareness and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of populations served.
- Must understand and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in case management or counseling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Familiarity with using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel).
